Stimulating your brain is of the utmost importance when you want to keep your brain healthy. It's most common to use exercise and brain teasers for brain stimulation. Brain teasers will engage your problem solving skills and exercise will increase blood flow within you brain. That increase in blood flow will aid the brain in operating at a higher level. However exercise isn't the only option for increasing your brain's blood flow... cumming works too. The orgasm's effects on the brain have been tracked by a few different studies. All of the studies have come to the conclusion that cumming will stimulate your brain.
One of these studies was done by a Professor named Barry Komisaruk at Rutgers University. Professor Komisaruk put women through an fMRI while they were masturbating. Professor Komisaruk noted that 30 different regions of the brain were stimulated during masturbation. Komisaruk also had these women imagine touching their vaginas and clitorises to compare to the actual stimulation. He found that even when the women were merely thinking about masturbating the corresponding regions of their brains would still light up. Except, there was a higher level of stimulation in the prefrontal cortex when masturbation was imagined. Also, the blood flow was less when the masturbation was imagined(1). A researcher in the Netherlands did a similar experiment from a different angle.
A researcher at the University of Groningen, in the Netherlands, put women through a brain scan while their partners were pleasuring them. This researcher was Janniko Georgiadis. Unlike Komisaruk, Georgiadis found that there was significantly less activity in the prefrontal cortex when the women were being stimulated by others. Meaning that different parts of the brain will be stimulated by sex rather by masturbation. Regardless of the sex act, both researchers found that orgasms increase brain activity and blood flow into the brain(1). Both experiments found that the increase in blood flow to the brain, when cumming, affects the entire brain. Where as the increase in blood flow is more localized to specific regions when doing exercise. Since the increased blood flow is brain-wide during an orgasm more nutrients and oxygen is delivered to the entire brain when compared to exercise(2). Leading to better brain performance due to cumming.
There have been several studies done that confirm that an increase in blood flow actually improves how your brain performs. Studies done on rats and monkeys show that the additional blood flow from aerobic exercise improved the performance of the brains of these monkeys and rats. After the exercise the rats and monkeys became faster at learning, were able to remember more, and healed form brain injuries at a faster rate. The monkeys, specifically, performed much better at the first test after the exercise. Based on other tests it is logical to think that humans would get similar results to monkeys(3). The results of these tests show us that improved blood flow, of any kind, leads to a better performing brain.
The results of improved blood flow in the brain are rather drastic. Such results are not only seen in the behavior of test subjects. We can also see results in the physiology of the subjects. By simply increasing the blood flow into your brain you are delivering more nutrients and oxygen to your brain than it would normally get. That extra oxygen and nutrients lead to your brain operating better. The medical community has even taken note of how increasing blood flow in your brain affects you. Increased blood flow has been seen to prevent shrinking of the Hippocampus, which normally occurs as you age. By stopping the shrinking that takes place in the Hippocampus, in adulthood, you will improve your memory. This is also shown in students. Students who get more blood flowing into their brain, via exercise, get better grades on tests(4). Now, let us remember that the increased blood flow from exercise is more localized whereas the increased blood flow from an orgasm is brain-wide(2). By combining this knowledge together you can see that regular orgasms are extremely important in keeping your brain in tip-top shape.
It cannot be argued that regular orgasms are an important part of your health. From these studies we have been shown that in order to keep your brain activity at a premium level you need some way to increase the level of blood flow in your brain. While, the exercise might be a common way to do it, it does have limitations. That blood flow is not brain-wide, whereas the extra blood flow created with an orgasm is. In addition to the blood flow, different brain regions are activated during sex acts. Further engaging your brain by forcing it to work. Logic dictates that the most effective way to increase your brain's performance would be by combining regular exercise with cumming as often as possible. The more blood flow your brain gets the better.
